Gumroad Discover vs direct
Same product, two fee paths. Direct traffic keeps more. Discover traffic costs a flat 30% that already includes processing. Price the difference before you lean on the marketplace.
Two ways a buyer reaches you
Direct: the buyer uses your link or your profile outside the Discover marketplace. Gumroad’s own fee is 10% + $0.50 (or 5% + $0.50 after $20,000 in paid sales that calendar month). Card processing is separate. This page uses a common US online card example of 2.9% + $0.30. PayPal and non-US cards differ.
Discover: the buyer found you on Gumroad’s marketplace. Fee is a flat 30%, and that rate already covers processing. There is no second card line on Discover sales.
Watch Discover. On a $25 digital sale, Discover keeps about $7.50 in fees. Direct (standard) is closer to $4.03 all-in with the card example. The gap widens as price rises. Marketplace reach is real. So is the cut.
High-volume discount only hits direct
Once paid sales in a calendar month reach $20,000, new direct sales that month drop to 5% + $0.50. Discover stays at 30%. The discount resets on the 1st of each month. Toggle "Gumroad high volume" in the calculator when that applies to you.

How to use the comparison
If most of your sales come from your own list, email, or social, model the direct column. If you are counting on Discover browse, model the 30% column and decide whether the volume is worth the thinner keep. Mixing both is normal. The calculator shows both so you can set a price that survives the worse path.
